Although we do not encourage you to use steel t-post with electric fencing , we realize that many people are going to. We feel that steel is the "enemy" with electric fencing. But if you must, here are a few good insulators to use.

The Stafix Dual Purpose Insulator can be used as a wood post or steel t-post insulator. It fits the 1.33 post very snugly. On a warm day you will be able to snap it on by hand, but on a cold day you may need a pair of channel locks. We don't think that is a bad thing, because you want it to snap on tightly. It features a pinlock design, is New Zealand made and of high quality.

Probably our best OVERALL insulator for T-Posts
Meet the T173 Steel T-Post Insulator! The biggest problem with t-post insulators is that they "pop off" too easily in most cases. This one has a unique design. It has two lock tabs on it that allow for easy installation, but once on the post you can lock it on. This gives better capture on the post and a very snug fit. We highly recommend this one if you are using t-posts for line posts. And, it fits both a 1.25 or 1.33 post.
Item # T173 $7.25/ bag of 25

Pictured above is the O'Brien Dual Purpose Insulator. It can be used as both a T-post or as a Wood Post nail on insulator. It fits a 1.25 steel T-Post. You will also notice that it has a wide wire pathway, so you can use it for 1/4" ropes and coated wire products. A good insulator, made in New Zealand.

Economy T-Post Insulators (below)

The 2550 T-Post Insulator also fits both the 1.25 or 1.33 t-posts. It has a wrap around snap fit design and a pinlock wire attachment.
Item # 2550 $5.95 for a bag of 25.

The SNUG25 Insulator is similar to the # 2550 above with a claw design instead of a pinlock.
Item # SNUG25 $3.50 bag of 25
Steel T-Post Topper is a universal insulator. It fits most all steel t-posts as well as the top of wood posts, etc. It has a nail/screw hole in the top of it. It does fit on t-post pretty snugly. The snap fit wire holder will accept 12.5 ga wire, polywire, polytape up to 2" wide and 1/4" ropes or coated wire. These do help protect horses from the jagged sharp tops of steel t-posts.
Item # 2027 $5.75 for a bag of 10

The photo above is just a small sampling of insulators for steel T-posts. We no longer even try to stock a large selection of T-post insulators. The featured ones above are proven performers for us. Inferior insulators on steel posts are probably responsible for a very large percentage of dissatisfied consumers and "bad experiences" for many people just getting into electric fencing. We feel strongly that "steel is the enemy" of electric fencing. Do not put all your confidence into cheap insulators ! You may also notice the we do not have "yellow" insulators, and we never will!
