Engineering rules

These are the assumptions behind every number. Change one and the bill of materials updates. Green means it came from you.

Brace if corner angle is under 160°

Measured off the actual drawn corners — not a vertex count.

Double brace if under 110°

In-line brace every 1,320 ft

0 = never. Applies to straight runs with no corner.

Extra conductor over measured run 10%

Tie-offs, slack, splices. Your live grazing workbook uses ~30%.

1 joule per 3.0 wire-miles

Ground rod per joule 3.0 ft

One drinking bout is 15% of daily intake

Stock come to water in a bunch after a move, not evenly across the day. This sets how much the tank buffers — it does not size the tank, because the float valve refills faster than cattle drink. If the line can't carry the bout, the sheet says so.
