The Strainrite 3:1 Geared Reel arrives pre-wound with 500m (1640') of 6-strand polywire — the reel's full polywire capacity. Unbox it, clip it to the fence, and start running wire. No winding session before the first paddock.
The gearing is the reason to own this reel rather than a standard one: a self-lubricated planetary gear system turns the spool three times for every turn of the handle, so rewinding a long run takes far fewer cranks. The spool is one-piece moulded and self-insulated, with reinforced mag wheel fins for strength, in high-impact UV-resistant polymer built for strength and long life.

3:1 Planetary Gearing: One handle revolution rotates the spool three times — a self-lubricated gear system built for repeated rewinding across paddock rotations.
Pre-Wound with 500m (1640') 6-Strand Polywire: Shipped at full polywire capacity, ready to run out of the box.
Patented Reel Stabiliser: Locks and balances the reel to the fence wire so it stays put while you work.
Self-Insulated One-Piece Spool: Moulded in a single piece, with reinforced mag wheel fins for spool strength under tension.
High-Impact UV-Resistant Polymer: Specified for strength and long life outdoors.
Wire/Tape Guide and Insulated Yellow Handle Included: Supplied with the reel, no separate purchase.
Mounting: Use with the carrying handle or a Strainrite reel mounting post.
