The Tension Spring with Galfan Coating is an in-line fence spring designed to absorb the expansion and contraction of hi-tensile wire as temperatures change through the seasons. Without a tension spring, temperature swings cause hi-tensile wire to go slack in summer heat and dangerously tight in winter cold — stressing posts, strainers, and the wire itself. The tension spring compensates automatically, keeping your fence at consistent tension year-round without manual adjustment.
Galfan coating provides superior corrosion resistance compared to standard galvanizing — a zinc-aluminum alloy that outperforms hot-dip galvanizing in long-term outdoor exposure, particularly in wet or coastal environments. Install one spring per wire run for consistent tension management across the full fence line.
